Occasional Fainting Spells During Pregnancy

After having another fainting spell this morning, I've decided to start documenting the factors that may be involved.

So far, there have been only two places where I have felt faint during pregnancy: on the bus and at grocery stores. The bus has been the most frequent place where I seem to average about 1 episode per month.

At the grocery store there was just one episode (at Whole Foods as it so happened), but there were a couple other times where I felt what could have been the beginning of one.

The only known fainting triggers for me (when not pregnant) are lobster and the yellow eye drops used in eye exams.

Today's fainting episode threw a wrench in some of my previous suspicions about what the cause might be. Previously I had suspected too-tight clothing or not having my feet elevated in a relaxed enough manner on the bus. However, this time both my clothing and my seating were fairly optimal.

So here all the other potential factors I can think of that were distinctive about today's bus ride:

  • The bus was very full with the aisle packed with standing folks (maybe it was simply not enough oxygen).
  • The people on the bus were really pungent today. I was being assaulted by the smells of perfume and the strong curry smell of someone's breakfast still clinging to their clothes. My nose got rewired in a big way by pregnancy and so these sorts of smells have become very negative for me as a result.
  • Lastly, I forgot to take my usual morning methyl folate and quercetin pills.

Hopefully through documentation I'll begin to see the pattern.
